It started in 2023, when I brought home my first ever dog, Conan.

Like many first-time dog owners, I suddenly found myself navigating an entirely new world of products: leashes, collars, bed, accessories... things I had never thought much about before were now part of my everyday life.

When I shop for Conan, I carry the same expectations I have when I shop for myself. I care about quality, materials, and design.

But the more I looked, the more disappointed I felt. Especially when I learned that the pet industry generates over 300 million pounds of plastic waste every year in North America alone.

Much of the pet market felt disposable. Cheap materials, frivolous designs, products that felt disconnected from the way I wanted to live. And when I did find pieces that felt thoughtful, they were often outside of Canada where it was either expensive to ship, or simply unavailable to Canadians.

It turns out there's a reason this mattered to me. A study shows that when people buy products that feel meaningful and aligned with their values, they experience greater day-to-day satisfaction.

coni is my response to all of this.

Named after Conan, coni brings the level of design, material integrity, and thoughtfulness we expect from human lifestyle brands into the world of dog gear & accessories.

We make products that feel good to use, look good to carry, and last. We work with materials that reduce environmental impact where possible, without compromising function.

Dog are family, and the things we choose for them should meet the same standards we expect for ourselves.
